Valentine's Day

There she was standing in the mist
I had the red rose clenched tightly in my fist
She looked at me and smiled through the blur
And everything freezed, everyone except me and her.

As I came close I came to realize she too held a rose
But yellow was the color of the rose that she chose
I was kind of embarrased for I was about to give her red
While she was only giving me yellow, the sign of a friend.

In the class, I used to wonder when we used to sit adjacent
Whether the pink cheeks that she had were naturally present
Because how can so much beauty be confined in a single person
But that beauty was all natural, God is the greatest mason.

I thought girls were conscious about the matching thing
Then why with a red dress she held yellow, the heart was aching
But that day was too great to be sad on this little problem
However, I swore to find the yellow roses and incinerate all of them.

Now we were standing close facing each other
And I didn't care even if we were being watched by her brother
We both smiled once again before I brought my hand forward
And gave the rose to a girl whose beauty was greater than a complete rose orchard.

She took it very elegantly, as she always did, with one hand
Then she playfully smelled it and the moment was so grand
I wished now to freeze her as well like everyone had
But my greatest wish had come true- to give her the red rose-and I was glad.

Then she smiled again and I waited to recieve that bloody yellow
I should have done more to become special than just a class fellow
She turned to keep the yellow one on the table beside
Suddenly I felt my stomach was full of butterflies inside.

She took out a red rose, that I was dying to get
I took the rose with a bow and she laughed at it
It seemed like the yellow roses were not going to get burned
Now that the dream had come true for which my heart had yearned.

Then came the moment to say 'I Love You', that I was more shaky about
It was easier to play with a tiger than to make the three words come out
And people might say that it is very easy, they can say it to everyone
But these words had my feelings attached to them and so it was no fun.

But when I looked in her eyes these words came out on their own
I got ready for an answer feeling the shivering in my every bone
Her nod was more than enough for me to give out a shout
I was the luckiest person on the earth and there was no doubt.

Then the holding hands together and then the stroll in the park
Then the looking in the eyes for eternity and then the song of the lark
Then we both bid each other a good-bye with our eyes without a say
Because we love each other so much that for us everyday is Valentine's day.
