Path of the Hierophant

Eyes shut as though in a long slumber
Sat a Hierophant unwary of all encumber
Under the Tree of Knowledge, besides a path
Which led to the location of a Holy Bath.

The Bath was created by land's first King
Created after he broke the Wisdom spring
A Prince would come here once for recognition
To visit after ascending throne as a part of tradition.

Soon came time for a new King's visit
After his father died by an accurate hit
By a stray arrow fired in battle
While invloved with his Minister in prattle.

The new elected King was poor in administration
He didn't know his people well nor their expectation.
So instead he decided to go away for some time
To visit the Bath and get rid of all grime.

The king came on a horse, newly enthroned
To visit the Bath which now he duly owned.
Travelling alone to prove his memory and remembrance
The poor King forgot the way to the entrance.

Seeing the Hierophant lost in meditation
He sat at his feet, not caring of his own station
Opening his eyes the Hierophant saw the king
Knowing his intention he handed him a long string.

"Tie a stone to this string's one end
And hold the other, after longest extend
Then keep on travelling along this straight road
And do not stop till you see the stopping of this load."

The King went on straight, puzzled and amazed
Astonished that a string can guide him, he was dazed.
But the Hierophant sat again with a smile
Thinking the King will surely take a while.

Suddenly the Tree of Knowledge began to speak
"O Hierophant, why are you smiling after troubling a meek.
The load won't stop to move if the King moves too
Path was on the right, why didn't you told, if you knew?"

"Ah" said the Hierophant after a long delay
"To send him on the wrong path, is that you say?
Forgetting not only the path but also his Kingdom
He was unknown to the ignorant Fool he had become."

"Until the load stops moving he would have visited
His Kingdom, part-by-part, together knitted
Then there will be no need for the Bath's location
After understanding his people, earning their admiration.

I didn't send him on a path which is wrong
Only on a path which is a little long.
A King not knowing his Kingdom is like a person with no sight
Then what good it would have done to point the path on the right?."
